I think it was a case of the domain reseller going out of business / becoming uncontactable. The company they resell for was able to fix it up. Should be secured for another 10 years but the whois info doesn’t yet reflect it. I’ll check back with them in a few days if it isn’t reflecting the new expiration date then.
